Some News

I’ve been keeping a secret for the past month or so, but now I think it might actually be safe to talk about it (I’m a little superstititous). It looks like we’re finally on our way to having the homestead of our dreams, as we’ve just had an offer accepted on our very own lovely little acreage! There’s still the issue of selling our house before things will be totally final, but I’m hopeful that there won’t be any real problems, and if all goes well, we should be moving by early summer.
Needless to say, renovation plans are on hold, and we’re busy getting the house ready to go on the market.
There’s a lot more to tell you about, but I’ll have to save that for another time.

  • How exciting for you!
I say to my husband Ron at least once a week- we need to find a little cabin in the woods- I need some wide open space.
Owen concurs… we were driving near our old home and he told me from the backseat, with a sigh, “Gee Mom I miss all these trees and fields. πŸ™
    Best of Luck!

  • Wow!!! What big news! That’s great. Where is this homestead? Will Chuck have to commute? Or do you have other plans? You’ll have to give us more details. I hope you post pictures soon. πŸ˜‰

  • Fantastic!!! I’m sorry I was away and missed the announcement. I’m so happy for you that this dream is coming true! And I can’t wait to see your new home.

  • I am not a blogger but read your notes each week. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your pictures and your postings. Great news about your next step in life…hope you continue to take us along with you.

  • That is great news! I hope your house sells quickly and all goes smoothly for you. And I really look forward to reading all about it and seeing lots of lovely photos of it in the future. (I live in a house smaller than yours with a tiny garden and I dream of a half acre garden!)

  • That’s so great. Take it from me, you won’t be looking back much with longing…except for maybe quick takeout! Country life is much preferred.

  • I’ve never commented before, though I do read your lovely blog regularly. But I couldn’t possibly read this entry without adding Woooohooo!! Congratulations!! Sending you and yours tons of good wishes for an easy move and many years of loving happiness in your new home!

  • Cheryl, that is super news for you and the fam. You’re embarking on quite an adventure! All the best to you!! PS – Reading what you’ve grown in your ‘small’ garden, I can’t imagine the fruits and vegetables that you will be growing in the years to come. Ahhhhhh.

  • Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement and support (as well as your finger crossing and wood knocking!). It was so nice to hear from all of you.
I’ll keep you all posted as things progress!

  • Congratulations! You can do it. I hope to read about the process for you, and I hope it grows into a wonderful journey.
My husband and I recently went waaay out on a limb and bought before selling. It’s been a few months now, and we’re scraping by with two mortgages, but we’re doing it. It’s a terrific (and terrifying) lesson in frugality for us–one that I hope influences us long after our home in town has sold.
    Enjoy!

  • i thought i left a comment here but i guess not…i’m so happy for your family-good luck and i look forward to reading about this journey.

I would love to hear from you!
