Knitting aspirations.
Monica asked yesterday if I could post a photo of the slippers from Knit 2 Together, a great new(ish) knitting book by comedian Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark. I thought I’d post a few of my other favorite projects at the same time.
These are the slippers. They are just too cute for words!
I love this sweater. I have a serious thing for brown, so that might be part of it.
This cape is so gorgeous! I wonder if I could make one to fit me?
Wouldn’t I look sharp working out in the garden wearing these socks?
These sweaters are great, too. They have instructions for making them for family members of all shapes and sizes.I love pouring over knitting books, admiring the various projects, but I seriously need to improve my knitting skills. I’m at the point where I can do fairly basic things, but not enough to make what I really want to be making. I was discussing this with a knitter friend the other day, and we were trying to figure out what I could make next that would be fairly simple, but not boring, would give me some much needed practice, and that I could finish within a reasonable amount of time. Any suggestions?

Yep, I like the slippers so I will buy the book too. I will get it used on one of the used book sites. I have had trouble finding a “cute” slipper pattern. Maybe I just didn’t look hard enough but I like the sweater pics to so…. I have wool left over from one of my sheep that will be perfect for slippers so I will start them after I finish the shawl project. I am almost done but seem to have lost my momentum so it is taking even longer! At the rate I am finishing the shawl, the slippers should be ready about this time next year π

Loved the update on your fridge. Gimme Lean for meatballs?! What a great idea! I also heard it’s great for biscuits and gravy.
I have moved from scarves to fingerless gloves. I am told it is a great way to start knitting in the round. It’s a slow go for me but a great learning experience. A thought if you haven’t tried any yet. My daughter taught me to knit last winter. In her school children learn to knit at age 6, a blessing for parents who never learned how, gauranteed private lessons!
Aww, gee whiz, thanks for the thanks in your previous post on my suggestion of “Knit 2 Together”. I just rechecked it out of my library, so I’m wondering if that means “time to purchase”?!!?
Not exactly sure of your experience, but a shawl or wrap would be a simple, fun project. I do love that little tea cozy in “Knit 2 Together”, do you think that’s a possibility for you? A vest is also nice because you don’t have to deal with sleeves – yet.
Another good book is “The Knit Stitch” by Sally Melville. The patterns in it only use the knit (garter) stitch. No purling.
“Knit 2 Together” is my favorite knitting book to come along in a while. I think the sweater on the cover (and the fact that they gave instructions for it), is a hoot!

Chelee – I did find it at the library, but there was quite a waiting list for it.
Gimme Lean makes great meatballs because it sticks together well. I usually add garlic, hot sauce, herbs and parmesan to it first.
Heather – Fingerless gloves would be nice!
It sounds like your daughter goes to a Waldorf school – we’ve used aspects of the Waldorf method for our homeschooling, which is how we got into knitting a few years ago.
Lu – A shawl’s not a bad idea (the tea cozy is awfully cute, too). I’ll have to look for something like that – know of any cute ones I should watch out for? I’ll look for Knit Stitch too. Thanks!

The brown womans sweater is GORGEOUS. I love it (and I am a sucker for brown too) It’s very feminine without being frilly though. Like it!
